Hand-hygiene Compliance

“On any given day, about one in 25 hospital patients has at least one healthcare-associated infection.”

ZH Health’s Hand Hygiene compliance solution provides actionable insights to caregivers on HHC rates in their facilities, with the purpose of reducing Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs). At clinically relevant accuracy, this solution allows for compliance monitoring among nurses, doctors, staff, patients and visitors throughout your facility. This monitoring is done through the use of badge-beacons that are easy to implement and sanitize.

An Interconnected System: How it Works

1. Badge, asset, dispenser, & medical device beacons capture location and usage data in real-time. Badge beacons are assigned to individuals, while asset/dispenser beacons are recognized through an unique identifier.

2. The data collected is seamlessly transmitted via BLE signals to communication hubs, or receivers. Each clinically relevant location has a different receiver which is easily implemented, requiring a single wall socket.

3. The data is then transmitted over the existing hospital Wi-Fi to secure servers in the Cloud. Then machine learning algorithms are applied to ensure best accuracy and trend prediction.

4. Live dashboards are provided for descriptive and prescriptive analytics. They are made available in a full-service Web portal offering workflow displays, HHC rates, and portable asset condition.

HAIs are a major, yet often preventable, threat to patient safety. A contributing factor to HAIs is the level of Hand Hygiene Compliance (HHC) in health care facilities. According to the CDC, overall medium HHC in the U.S. is less than 50%.
ZH saw an opportunity for improvement, knowing that the currently available methods for monitoring HHC are often outdated. With the rise of IoT and location-aware data, our Hand Hygiene Compliance solution captures HHC events in real-time and delivers comprehensive analyses to all stakeholders in a provider’s facility. Here are some of our dashboard capabilities:

Compliance given specific location
Access data on specific, clinically relevant locations such as patient rooms, nurse stations, wait rooms, etc.

  • Alert personnel of non-compliance in advance of patient interactions;
  • Provide high levels of compliance accuracy – 99% positive identification;
  • Display locations, alerts and other pertinent data on floor maps, in real-time and playback, based on historically captured data.

Disease control by protocol
Understand number of dispenser activations per dispenser and solution type. Given certain infections in the facility, you’d be able to specify the optimal solution type for that infection, and gather data on that solution’s usage.

  • Monitor how well the hand hygiene protocol is followed by staff around the clock;
  • Integrating HHC data with clinical data from EHR systems to help identify the relationships between HHC, hospital acquired infections and 30-day readmissions
